Moong Dal Payasam is a popular south indian style of kheer recipe made with moong dal,coconut milk and ghee & nuts.it is a traditional dessert recipe made especially for celebration feast or the festival.It is also known as Paruppu Payasam .
- Moong Dal - 2 cup
- Water – 2 cup
- Jaggery – 1 cup
- Milk – 1 cup
- Cardamom powder – 1 tbsp
- ghee / clarified butter – 2 tbsp
- Fresh coconut – ½ cup (sliced)
- Cashewnut – 10
Take a pan, add moong dal and roast it in low flame until they turn aromatic.
Now take a pan add water to cook for 5 minutes over medium heat.
Add the jaggery and mix until the jaggery dissolves in the water and cook for two minutes.
Now add the clarified butter (ghee) to a wok, then add the fresh coconut and cook the coconut until brown in colour.
Now afterwards add the cashews, and cook them until they become light brown in colour.
Then, add the jaggery water in a pan, and stir it for 2-3 minutes. Add the moong mix and cook them to get thicker.
Then add the milk and cardamom powder and cook for two minutes. Add the roasted coconut, the roasted cashew, and the cardamom powder, and mix everything right.
Pour a small amount of clarified butter over it and mix well. Cook for four or five minutes.
Now Ready to serve.
