Overview


We are looking for an experienced and organized Transport Manager to oversee our grocery shop's transportation and logistics operations. In this role, you will manage the distribution of goods from suppliers to our store, ensuring timely and cost-efficient delivery. You will be responsible for coordinating drivers, managing delivery schedules, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.



Key Responsibilities


  • Oversee the day-to-day management of the delivery fleet, including scheduling, route planning, vehicle maintenance, and driver management.
  • Plan and manage the transportation of goods from suppliers to our store(s), ensuring timely and efficient delivery of stock.
  • Monitor transportation costs and develop strategies to optimize expenses while maintaining high levels of service.
  • Ensure all drivers comply with traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies. Maintain accurate records of driver logs and vehicle inspections.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, vendors, and transport providers to ensure seamless supply chain operations.
  • Supervise and support drivers and other transport staff, providing training, feedback, and performance evaluations.
  • Coordinate with the store's inventory team to ensure accurate delivery of stock and resolve any discrepancies in orders.
  • Address transportation challenges such as delays, vehicle breakdowns, and route adjustments to ensure smooth operations.
  • Prepare reports on transportation efficiency, delivery times, and costs, and suggest improvements based on data analysis.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of experience in transportation management, logistics, or supply chain, preferably in retail or grocery.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience managing a team of drivers or logistics personnel.
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations and compliance standards.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and route optimization tools.


Pay


£23,000-£28,000 per annum
